Duisburg, 08.10.2013 | German Logistics Real Estate Award for building the Audi Logistics Center on logport II / Presentation at world’s largest real estate trade fair, Expo Real
Yesterday evening the duisport Group was awarded Logix, the German Logistics Real Estate Award, at the world’s largest real estate trade fair, Expo Real. In future this prize will be given every two years for logistics real estate that meets its users’ and investors’ demands to the highest degree and also in urban planning, ecological and social aspects. duisport has received the Logix Award for building a logistics center for the automotive logistics services provider, Schnellecke Logistics, commissioned by Audi to take over Audi’s CKD business (Completely Knocked Down). In total, the largest CKD location in the world in the Audi Group encompasses a plot of 106,500m2 and around 53,000m2 of storage area. The logistics complex is connected to the rails, roads and waterways and has its own in-house track connection to deliver conventionally packed parts by rail. Total investments amounted to more than 25 million euros. Around 500 new jobs are being created by the location.
“This award has further strengthened us in working on our full-service approach and in developing innovative solutions,” said Markus Teuber, Chief Representative of Duisburger Hafen AG, on receiving the Logix Award. Among the decisive aspects for the jury was the fact that the logistics complex was realized on logport II, a revitalized, formerly derelict industrial site. Furthermore, the duisport solution concept, which ideally links the requirements and possibilities of industry, logistics and real estate with each other, proved convincing.
“A great honor for this teamwork, but logistics real estate is also gaining urgently needed appreciation from the first award of this prize,” emphasized Richard Schwarze, Vice President Real Estate and Sales at the duisport Group.
The Logix Award was awarded by Initiative Logistikimmobilien GmbH, a grouping of several personalities from the German real estate sector with the aim of strengthening the reputation of logistics real estate. The jury consists of ten sector experts, whose members evaluate different experiences made by the nominated real estate from the point of view of the user, developer, construction companies, institutional investors, consultants and financers. The evaluation is made according to quantitative and qualitative criteria.
