Essen, 23.05.2013 | duisport and Ferrostaal found joint venture
The international logistics service provider and operator of the Port of Duisburg, duisport, and the worldwide industrial service provider Ferrostaal, Essen, have founded a joint venture, IPS Integrated Project Services GmbH (IPS).
Each of the contractual partners has a 50 per cent share in the new company, which has its headquarters in Duisburg. The objective: worldwide shipping services for industrial projects, principally for companies from the plant construction and mechanical engineering sectors. In particular the company will take over the shipping services for the industrial plants business of the Ferrostaal Group.
“The joint venture confirms our approach of continuously developing our service portfolio together with our customers,” says Erich Staake, Chief Executive Officer of Duisburger Hafen AG. “IPS will provide a new basis for our activities and thus help strengthen the logistics region Rhine-Ruhr.”
“The joint venture will profit greatly from the complementary skills of the two companies. We will contribute our decades of experience in project logistics for international plant construction. Our international platform will enable us to guarantee that complex logistics tasks are handled quickly and reliably in numerous countries. With duisport we have found the ideal partner for customised logistics solutions using all modes of transport worldwide,” explains Dr. Klaus Lesker, Member of the Management Board of Ferrostaal GmbH. “IPS can deal with all the logistics tasks in a project, from the idea to supplier management to implementation.”
