Truck parking lot in Hohenbudberg goes into operation
Duisburg, 15.09.2015 | Provides local relief / Capacity for 50 tractor units / Investments in the six-figure range
The works for the truck parking lot for tractor units on the grounds in front of the old railcar repair building in Hohenbudberg have been completed. Tomorrow, the approximately 1400 m2 parking lot for tractor units, which features 50 parking spaces and sanitary facilities for truck drivers (toilets, showers), will go into operation. Investments (including maintenance) will total several hundred thousand euros; the costs will be borne by duisport.
"The parking lot directly in front of the logport III terminal will make a significant contribution towards relieving some of the pressures in that area," says Erich Staake, Chief Executive Officer of Duisburger Hafen AG.
The parking lot, which will also feature security, will be open 24 hour hours, seven days a week. A permanent access control system will ensure that the parking lot is used only by tractor units that are heading to the logport III terminal in Hohenbudberg.
Besides placing signs for the parking lot around the terminal, duisport will also distribute flyers in seven languages (German, English, Russian, Bulgarian, Polish, Hungarian and Romanian), similar to what was done when the A40 was closed a few months ago. The flyers will also include information regarding the rules of use for the parking lot.
duisport and representatives of the city of Duisburg were already working on a parking solution for tractor units along the access roads around the logport III terminal in Hohenbudberg since the end of the last year. Since the user of the terminal did not take any measures, duisport indicated its willingness to take on a leadership role on this issue.
