logport is opening its doors
Duisburg, 27.07.2015 | Our Open Day will offer a glimpse behind the scenes and a close look at the restructuring project - a day out for the whole family to enjoy
The logistics center logport I in Duisburg-Rheinhausen will be opening its doors to the public at 11.00am on 16th August. Visitors will be treated to a full and varied program: tours of the site and warehouse spaces of local customers, helicopter flights and extensive information on the development of the most successful restructuring project in the Ruhr region.
“We hope this open day will give visitors an insight into the activities of the logistics center. The varied program is designed for all age groups, so families with children will receive a warm welcome,” said Erich Staake, CEO of Duisburger Hafen AG.
Visitors can explore our logistics area on guided bus tours and aboard our own little train, the “logport Express”. Organized tours of the warehouses will provide a glimpse behind the scenes at a state-of-the-art distribution center and those wanting to see the area from a totally different perspective can even book a helicopter flight on site.
In addition to these logistics events, visitors can learn more about the development of duisport / logport from the various info stands and discover the professional, educational and internship opportunities at the duisport Group from our HR colleagues.
There will also be plenty of things for our younger guests to do; they can drive child forklift trucks, have fun on a bouncy castle or build small containers, all under professional supervision.
All the events happen within a lively and colorful main program. Visitors won’t go hungry and nor will they lack musical entertainment: bands Fools Errant and The Rebel Tell Band are sure to provide a great atmosphere. A prize competition will take place throughout the day with some fabulous prizes for the winners, including a trip and lunch aboard our conference boat, “Karl Jarres”, a tour of the largest crane in an inland port and a ride on a duisport rail locomotive.
logport – the flagship for Duisburg
duisport started developing the 2,650,000 m² former site of the Krupp-Hüttenwerk in Duisburg-Rheinhausen under the logport logo in 1998. Roughly 50 companies have moved into logport I since that time, including the leading logistics companies Kühne + Nagel, DB Schenker, DHL and NYK / Yusen Logistics. Besides the three intermodal container terminals, the site can offer around 650,000 m² of warehouse space, with over half this area occupied by various European distribution centers for Danone Waters, Hewlett Packard, Johnson & Johnson and Siemens to name a few. Over 4,000 direct jobs have been created at logport I since 1998.
