Castrop-Rauxel/Duisburg, 14.12.2010 | The duisport Group (Duisburger Hafen AG) and RÜTGERS Germany GmbH have founded the joint venture ‘TARLOG’ for the common development of logistics activities and the marketing of space in the RÜTGERS industrial park in Castrop-Rauxel.
The duisport Group (Duisburger Hafen AG) and RÜTGERS Germany GmbH have founded the joint venture ‘TARLOG’ for the common development of logistics activities and the marketing of space in the RÜTGERS industrial park in Castrop-Rauxel. duisport Chief Executive Officer Erich Staake and RÜTGERS-CEO Henri Steinmetz signed the corresponding joint venture contracts today in Duisburg.
The joint venture bundles important areas of expertise of the two companies. Here Duisburger Hafen AG contributes the know-how of the duisport Group in realizing efficient transport chains on rails and waterways, in maintaining and operating port and track infrastructure and in marketing industrial and service space. RÜTGERS provides its technological expertise and decades of experience in operating large chemical businesses to the company. Together the partners want to develop the area on the RÜTGERS site into an industrial location with a focus on logistics, chemicals, transport and energy.
“The realization of this joint venture represents another important building block in our logistics commitment to the Ruhr region and promotes intelligent transport and logistics concepts in the key chemical sector,” said Erich Staake, Chief Executive Officer of Duisburger Hafen AG. “Through TARLOG our chemical activities will be expanded by a new main pillar in the Ruhr region thus contributing to a strengthening of the logistics region Rhine-Ruhr,” continued Staake.
In addition to the optimal trimodal connection to the road, rail and waterway modes of transport, new companies at the location will also profit from the existing infrastructure facilities, including an energy center, waste disposal, workshops and liquid and solid cargo ports on the Rhine-Herne canal. In total there are at least 15 hectares of space available for logistics and services.
Alongside developing chemical logistics in the industrial park, TARLOG will also operate plant logistics at the Castrop-Rauxel location. “Castrop-Rauxel is one of the most important locations in our worldwide network,” said RÜTGERS CEO Henri Steinmetz at the contract signing. “Through this cooperation with duisport we will further improve the efficiency and performance of the location.”
Both companies will hold 50 per cent each of the new company, which will have its headquarters in Castrop-Rauxel. Subject to approval under cartel law the company will start work next year.
